The request: Rainforest and ILO sought to better understand how global supply chains impact worker wages and conditions.
Activities: We conducted three sectorial studies in coffee, tea, and banana to understand how global supply chains and market dynamics impact workers’ wages and working conditions. We analyzed wage data from five countries to inform the current state, and conducted global supply chain analyses to inform how global sourcing and pricing practices impact interact with local markets.
Our value: The outcome was a set of policy recommendations for private sector, governments, and civil society to improve wages and working conditions.
