Layla is a creative changemaker with a multidisciplinary background in microbiology, environmental biotechnology, and sustainability governance. She integrates scientific insight with governance approaches to develop solutions for complex sustainability challenges such as circular economy transitions, biodiversity loss, and climate action. Her work bridges data-driven analysis, stakeholder engagement, and systems thinking to advance effective and inclusive sustainability strategies.

  • Engagement Manager at Running 4 Climate, organising campaigns and climate marathons to raise awareness of the climate crisis through community engagement and youth participation.
  • Promoted EU career opportunities and built networks to connect students with European institutions.
  • Led multidisciplinary teams to design sustainability solutions for clients in the maritime, agri-tech, and finance sectors, focusing on ESG reporting and circular innovation.

Layla holds dual Master’s degrees in Life Science & Technology (Biocatalysis) from Delft University of Technology and Governance of Sustainability from Leiden University, combining technical expertise with policy and systems insight to drive sustainable transformation.
