About

As Principal Consultant at NewForesight, Maarten supports organizations and sectors in navigating complex sustainability transitions that require coordination across multiple stakeholders and systems. His work focuses on translating transition theory into concrete strategies, roadmaps, and governance approaches that help organizations move from ambition to implementation. 

Maarten is driven to accelerate system-level change by creating clarity in complexity and aligning diverse interests around credible transition pathways. He is particularly energized by projects that combine systems thinking, strategic analysis, and intensive stakeholder engagement to drive progress in challenging transition contexts. 

Experience

  • Maarten has extensive experience in the Circular Economy and Food & Land transitions, including circular electrical devices, circular infrastructure, the plant-based transition, food consumption, and sustainable production practices. 
  • As Program Manager of the Long Live Electronics coalition, he leads a sector-wide initiative of frontrunners accelerating the transition towards more circular use of consumer electronics in the Netherlands. 
  • He is a valued speaker and trainer, inspiring and equipping change makers to apply TransMission thinking in real-world transition challenges. 
  • Within NewForesight Maarten serves as Domain Lead for the TransMission domain 
  • Prior to joining NewForesight, Maarten worked as a Senior Project Manager at Hays, where he implemented outsourced solutions for corporates in the food and engineering sectors, including a two-year on-site assignment at FrieslandCampina. 
  • Maarten holds an MSc in Work & Organizational Psychology, which enables him to consistently get to the core of human behavior and organizational dynamics underlying successful sustainability transitions.
