NewForesight assisted the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the preparation of a paper for the World Forum on Natural Capital in Edinburgh, which took place from 23-24 November. The paper was written by a coalition of the Natural Capital Coalition, ICAEW and the Dutch Ministry and uses transition thinking as a framework to analyse how an enabling environment for natural capital accounting in the private sector can be created.
Besides giving general input regarding structure, NewForesight provided the Dutch Ministry with information on sustainable market transformations in agriculture to serve as an example for how natural capital accounting in the private sector can be given a boost. Martin Lok from the Ministry presented some of these examples in his speech on the 23rd of November.
For more information, please see our previous project on the topic, here, for which NewForesight was asked to assist the Ministry in defining the building blocks for an enabling environment for natural capital, and communicate this among relevant stakeholders. These building blocks have taken the form of a non-paper intended as a contribution to a joint paper on natural capital through a system lens of The Natural Capital Coalition.
